Young Pearse drinks from an ancient well

Local singer and musician Pearse Larkin is no stranger to Iúr Cinn Fleadh. He’s played a session or two for us at the Railway Inn as part of the festival.

But in 2024, this All Ireland Fleadh champion played support for our headliners Altan – and even those Irish folk legends were impressed!

Pearse strolled onto the Town Hall stage and joked with the audience in that funny, unrehearsed way that has become part of his hallmark.

People giggled partly because he is so charming, and partly because they knew in a minute, when the joking stopped, some ancient sound would emerge from that young singer. They weren’t disappointed.

He captured the Fleadh followers, held them in his grip, and left them spellbound.

Here is a video clip of Pearse’s interpretation of John Spillane’s classic All The Ways You Wander, which delighted the Iúr Cinn Fleadh folk last summer. Thanks to our friends at Narrow Water Promotions for organising the Town Hall event.
